United Way/SCANPO Partnership Offers New Training Opportunities for Nonprofits

The United Way of Anderson County and the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) have partnered together to provide local nonprofit executive directors, board members, staff and volunteers with affordable training and networking sessions.

The new partnership between the United Way’s Center of Nonprofit Excellence and SCANPO’s Knowledge Network was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, August 20th, in the new SCANPO Knowledge Network Library located at United Way building on North Murray Avenue. The training calendar was unveiled at the celebration and will be posted on the United Way of Anderson County website and the SCANPO online calendar of events.

“We are excited to team with SCANPO to deliver high quality training opportunities to our nonprofits,” stated Carol Burdette, Chief Professional Officer of the United Way of Anderson County. “SCANPO is the lead organization across the state in capacity building and support for nonprofit organizations. Making SCANPO resources more available in this area is just another way that we can support the work of local agencies and ensure quality programming and operations.”

The training and network resources, offered through the Knowledge Network site, are open to all area nonprofits in the Upstate and promoted through the United Way of Anderson County and United Way partners including the United Ways of Oconee and Pickens.

“We’re thrilled to help provide nonprofits with more convenient access to relationship-building and development trainings at a low cost,” said Madeleine McGee, president of SCANPO. “Having resources available locally is not only convenient, but also saves time and travel costs, which is key for many of these groups with low operating budgets. We benefit by being able to expand our reach to nonprofits across the state. It’s a win for all.”
