Tank Away Getaway

Isle to Island

Isle to Island – from Isle of Palms to Goat Island

Time for vacation, but prices are rising and flying seems to be a bit stressful now but have no fear, your next Tank Away Getaway is here.

Within a tank of gas drive from Anderson you can go from Isle to Island in no time. Let’s start with the Isle.

Isle of Palms is just a short drive from the Upstate and is a perfect beach getaway for everyone. Isle of Palms has stunning beaches and some of the clearest water on the coast. Depending on the time of year you go you just might get to experience the baby sea turtles jaunt to the ocean.

Neighboring Sullivan’s Island is home to Fort Moultrie, site of important battles during the American Revolution and the Civil War. Just a short 10-minute drive and you’re in Mt. Pleasant or keep going about another 10-15 minutes and you’re in Charleston.

Isle of Palms has many great hotels and resorts, but if you’re going to plan a full week or have a big family consider looking into a home rental. Here you have tons of options as well, beach front, marsh front, inland, small, large, upscale, beachy and the choices go on.

An easy way to narrow your choices is going through a beach rental company like East Islands Rentals. Contacting them makes the hunt easier so you do less work to enjoy your vacation. One example of the options they offer is the pristine home known as Palm Breeze. This 6 BR beach front rental offers everything and anything you could want. To start, you literally walk out the back to your own private boardwalk and down to your private gazebo and the beach. This home makes vacation a “breeze” from the start, with an elevator that goes from the garage to top floor.

Palm Breeze offers so many amazing amenities such as a private heatable pool and hot tub located on the main deck. In addition to the main deck there are three other levels. One level is off two of the upstairs bedrooms, then a level up is a wonderful partially covered viewing deck that leads to yet another level just a few steps up where you can enjoy yet another an unobstructed view of the entire beach front.

Some other notable amenities, working gas fireplace, gourmet kitchen, each bedroom has its own bath, outside shower when returning from beach and much, much more. An added bonus is the many breath taking views you get to take in while you sip your morning coffee.

When you contact East Islands Rentals for your vacation rental you leave your worries behind when you enter the house. They are not only responsive and meticulous with their homes but the staff is extremely helpful and always friendly and upbeat.

But you don’t want to spend your entire vacation at the house and that’s where the Island comes in. Goat Island Gatherings (GIG) that is. Only a few short minutes from the Isle of Palms Marina by boat, Goat Island, located on the intracoastal waterway, is close and convenient but has managed to retain a charm and rustic quality that gives guests the feeling that they’ve stepped back in time and are on their own private paradise.

Dennis and Diann Clark run GIG and their love of the island, and their venue, shines through in everything there. From the second you step off the boat you feel the peace and serenity of this one of a kind venue.

Now, to get to Goat Island Gatherings you will need a boat and making it easy and fun Barrier Island Eco Tours is available. They work with GIG to plan an amazing adventure. On your boat trip out to Goat Island Shane, or one of his captains, with Barrier Island will guide you through the water ways and point out the wonders of the area and they may even stop and harvest some fresh oysters (when in season) to throw on the fire.

The venue was perfect for our girls’ week night out. Everything flowed so beautifully from the table-scapes to the secluded waterfront beach area, a viewing deck to sit and take in the stunning water views, a tiki bar for all the fun and silliness and just a general vibe that makes you feel like you are on your own island, away from everything the day to day brings, just an “Island time: type of feeling. The sunsets you see from the island truly will be some of the best you will view anywhere. Just plan to sit back, relax and take in all the beauty of the island while you sip on your favorite beverage.
