Tom is a hardworking truck driver, a retired Army Veteran who proudly served our country for 25 years, and a devoted family man who spends his weekends caring for his mother and mother-in-law. Despite his resilience, Tom’s life changed forever on September 14, 2024, when he was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer after months of unexplained stomach pain.
Behind every fighter is a strong support system, and for Tom, that’s his incredible wife, Joy. Joy is doing everything she can to hold her family together during this devastating time. She’s juggling the overwhelming responsibilities of caring for Tom, managing their household, working her full-time job, and still trying to create a bright and happy holiday for their grandchildren. The emotional, physical, and financial toll on her is immense, yet she continues to fight alongside Tom with unwavering strength and love.
Tom’s Treatment Journey
Tom has begun chemotherapy, but the fight ahead is a challenging one. While exploring additional treatments, Tom and his family discovered the NanoKnife procedure, a promising option performed by only a handful of doctors in the U.S. Unfortunately, this procedure isn’t covered by insurance for pancreatic cancer, and the cost—$15,000 for the procedure alone, plus travel and other expenses—is staggering.
Tom’s medical expenses, combined with the loss of income as he focuses on his health, have placed an overwhelming financial burden on his family. But together, we can help ease this load and give both Tom and Joy the support they desperately need.
Here’s how you can help:
Donate: Every dollar makes a difference. Your contribution can help cover the cost of the NanoKnife procedure, travel, and ongoing treatments.
Share: If you’re unable to donate, please share Tom’s story to reach others who may be able to help.
Send Words of Support: Your encouragement and prayers mean the world to Tom, Joy, and their family during this difficult time.
Tom is a husband, father, grandfather, and son—a man who has always put his family and community first. And Joy is his rock, doing everything in her power to care for him and bring joy to their family. Let’s come together to support this incredible couple in their fight for more time with their loved ones.
Pancreatic Cancer: The Fight Against the Odds
Only 10% of cases are diagnosed early, making treatment incredibly challenging.
Research Funding Gap: Despite being one of the deadliest cancers, pancreatic cancer receives only 2% of cancer research funding, leaving patients with fewer treatment advancements compared to other types of cancer.
Treatment Options: The NanoKnife procedure, along with immunotherapy and targeted therapies, represents emerging hope for patients, but these treatments are often not widely available or covered by insurance and are often financially out of reach for many families.
Early Detection is Critical: The development of early detection tools is essential, as diagnosing the cancer before it spreads dramatically improves survival rates.
Donate today and help us give Tom, Joy and their entire family hope this holiday season. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. #toetouchesfortom
