New Foundations Holds Its First Fundraising Gala

Night on the Town: Sona Lounge, A 50s Nightclub Experience!

ANDERSON, SC — New Foundations Home for Children is hosting its first public Gala on October 28th from 8-11pm at the Sona Restaurant at Destination Point in Anderson. Night on The Town: Sona Lounge is a “50s Nightclub Experience” that will include period music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, plus a raffle and live/silent auction. “Our goal is to not only connect with our current donors,” explained Development Director Beth Hacker, “but to also gain new ones. We want current donors to bring along friends so they can share their interest in our work.”

The Gala Committee has tried to think of everything that will have the guest traveling back in time. Mid-century design is evident in the venue. The menu is full of mid-century tastes. The live music, by nationally acclaimed singer and pianist Philip Adair, will include swing, rockabilly, and cheek-to-cheek crooning. There will be spirit-free 50’s cocktails, along with a cash bar. There will even be corsages for the ladies!

The auction concentrates more on experiences, although several wonderful items will also be available.  Some of the experiences to be auctioned include a NASCAR driving experience, a dinner party with Anderson’s private chef, Chef Stella, a private behind the scenes tour of City Scape Winery,  1-hour photo session with Ashleigh Coker, and a full golf package by Cobbs Glen and TaylorMade.

Steve Dean, CEO, said a first-time event is daunting but he knows the generous support of the Upstate community. “An event like this allows us to present the organization and showcase the small businesses and donors in the community. Without the community’s support, we would be unable to provide care and services to traumatized Upstate teens and vulnerable families,” he finishes.

Funds raised during the event will be used to provide free and inclusive trauma-informed services to families and children of South Carolina who are trying to create better futures. These services include congregate Foster Homes, Connections Foster Family Recruitment and Placement, in-house information and counseling for families before the family is split apart, and state-wide transportation services for Social Services clients.

Reservations are $175 for couples, $100 stag and are limited to 100 guests. To learn more about the Night on The Town event and to make your reservations, visit https://newfoundationschildren.com/sona/. A few sponsorships are still available at https://newfoundationschildren.com/sponsor/

3500+ children under 18 in South Carolina are currently in foster placements. New Foundations Home for Children exists to help these children and families move on to the next chapter in their lives by providing programs that shelter and protect youth, make referrals for in-home services, and provide life skills and educational training. We can’t do it without donors like you!
