Join the 200th anniversary of the

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah!

All the fun without as many headaches

If you want to experience St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, but you’re finding that hotel rates are as high as a leprechaun’s rainbow, consider a great option by booking your stay in the neighboring community of Port Wentworth.

Port Wentworth is just a short 10 miles from downtown Savannah, so it’s very conveniently located. But, for St. Paddy’s Day, this city is making your visit to the 200th anniversary of the parade even easier.

On Saturday, March 16, the Chatham Area Transit (CAT) bus service will provide two shuttles making round trips from Port Wentworth to Savannah so you can experience this tradition without the hassles of driving, finding parking and getting caught in parade traffic.

The shuttle will make trips from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. While 7 a.m. may seem a little early for a parade, the float festivities aren’t the only ways to celebrate this Irish holiday. A Mass service at the Bascilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist will be held at 8 a.m. to keep the foundation of faith in this day and honor St. Patrick, who spread Christianity across Ireland.

At 10:15 a.m., the parade will start winding through Savannah’s historic district around the many picturesque squares. You’ll want to get a head start on where to view this spectacular event, so hit the shuttle early and pick your viewing spot. People treat this event like a college football tailgate.

When the final float has passed, and you’re ready to rest after such an exhilarating day, grab your shuttle back to the town of Port Wentworth and make other guests green with envy when they learn of the fantastic hotel rate you snagged for this highly attended weekend in Savannah.
