Extras Getting Schooled Seasonal

Back to School

By Ashlyn Harmon

Back-to-school season is here! Transitioning from summer to school can be hectic for students and parents alike, so here are a few tips to make your back-to-school journey a breeze!

  1. Get Ahead with Organization
The key to acing the school year starts with staying organized. Organizational tools like planners, to-do lists, calendars, or time-management apps can help with scheduling by keeping track of assignments, projects, and extracurricular activities. Color-coding your folders, notebooks, or sticky notes can help differentiate between subjects. An organized mind leads to less stress and more success!
  2. Set Realistic Goals
Take a moment to set some realistic goals before the year begins. Whether improving your grades, joining a club, or learning a new skill, having clear objectives will motivate you throughout the year. Break down your goals into smaller milestones and celebrate each achievement. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish with a clear vision!
  3. Optimize Your Study Routine
Find a study routine that works best for you – whether it’s early morning, right after school, or late night – and stick to it. Create a cozy and distraction-free study space that fosters focus and productivity. To help minimize distractions, try to avoid technology that isn’t necessary for the assignments. Chunk your study sessions into manageable blocks, and remember to take frequent short breaks to recharge your brain!
  4. Upgrade Your School Supplies Game
There is nothing like new school supplies to boost your motivation and creativity. Try some stylish stationery, notebooks, and colorful writing tools. Invest in a sturdy backpack that can carry the essentials comfortably. A nice new outfit for the first day of school can also help boost your mood and help you feel refreshed for the new year! Just stay mindful of dress codes while choosing the outfit, and keep an eye out for stores offering discounts for the back-to-school season!
  5. Make it Fun!
Remember, the start of school doesn’t have to be the end of summer fun. Going back to school can be overwhelming, but that should never stop you from having a great time. Throwing a small back-to-school party with a few friends at the end of summer or after the first week of school can help make the transition into a celebration! Then, once the school year begins, try spending time outside in the sun after school and during weekends to help relax your mind. You can still enjoy some summer fun as long as all of your assignments are done!
